This is the first and foundational of my “Mech’s Physics” series books. This series of books covers from relativity to particle physics with consistency and comprehensiveness, both of which the “Standard Model“ fails to satisfy as a whole.
Maxwell’s equations are recognized to be the ultimate solution of electromagnetic phenomena. But they are just a mathematical description. Maxwell tried to explain it mechanically, postulating the existence of an “Aether,” which was the prevailing hypothesis then.
The concept of aether is looked to be out of fashion today, but theoretically, it can not be denied. Now, I take over what Maxwell and other historical physicists tried to do by reviving it as the “Yasui’s Aether.”

This part contains the history of the most significant physicists who studied light and electromagnetism. Most of them, including Albert Einstein, were concerned about the aether. What were their aethers like and how their standpoint in academic society went are described in this part with my philosophy.
